About the Role – Senior Software Engineer
As a Senior Software Engineer in the Azure SQL Core Team, you’ll work on the foundation of Microsoft’s database systems. Your work will directly improve performance, scalability, and reliability, helping enterprise and cloud customers get the most out of Microsoft Azure.
You will:
- Drive performance improvements and scalability for cloud systems
- Build tools to monitor and diagnose real-world customer challenges
- Lead prototype projects to test and evaluate new ideas
- Collaborate and learn from a diverse team of world-class engineers
- Ensure deployments are efficient, reliable, and high-performing
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering
- Strong experience in C and C++
- Proven skills in system design and building production-quality software
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred:
- Knowledge of database systems or operating systems internals
- Understanding of hardware architecture (CPU, memory, storage, networking)
- Experience in performance engineering and scalability testing
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux systems administration
- Exposure to cloud technologies and big data systems
