Your Role as a Data Engineer – Data Platforms
As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping IBM’s future by converting business needs into high-quality data solutions.
You will work as an Application Developer in an agile team and will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data platforms that support enterprise-level systems.
Your work will directly impact IBM and its global clients by enabling data-driven decision-making and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Manage end-to-end feature development, from design to deployment
- Learn and implement new technologies as required by the project
- Develop and maintain backend data processing systems
- Work extensively with Python and PySpark
- Debug issues, perform root cause analysis, and fix defects
- Resolve issues reported in content management backend systems
- Ensure timely delivery of features while maintaining code quality
Education Requirements
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree
- Preferred: Master’s Degree
Skills and Experience Required
Must-Have Technical Skills
IBM is looking for professionals with strong experience in data engineering:
- 6+ years of overall IT experience
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with Python and Apache Spark
- Strong knowledge of Python and PySpark development
- Ability to design, write, debug, and optimize data applications
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Good-to-Have Skills
These skills will give you an added advantage:
- Hands-on experience with Cloud platforms such as:
- AWS
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- Microsoft Azure
Experience with cloud-based data platforms is a big plus but not mandatory.
